After his graduation, rigorous
exams and postgraduate study leading to CSc., he obtained the title
docent of the Philosophical Faculty at Comenius University in Bratislava.
In 2003, he was appointed Professor of Philosophy, following his post
as a MBU Associate Professor. He gives lectures and conducts seminars
in philosophy, applied ethics and sociology. After 1990 he focused his
attention on a new specialisation in Philosophy and on lecturing in
ancient philosophy, social philosophy, sociology and ethics. He was
engaged in initiating a new programme of philosophical study at the
FH and also at the Department of Philosophical Sciences. He also initiated
intensive development of the Department of Philosophy and its study
combinations and specialisations in philosophy, ethics, social philosophy
and applied ethics. Since September 1, 1995 he has held the post of
head of the Department of Philosophical Sciences. In 1998 he prepared
the new curricula of the DEAE, of which he became the head of in 1999,
after the establishment of the department. He is an academic guarantor
of the specialisation in Philosophy, with the area of expertise in Ethics.
He also authored many projects for Ethics and Applied Ethics Studies.
He sits on many FH bodies and committees, e.g. the Dean's Board, the
Study Committee and the Senate of the FH, MBU. He is also a member of
the MBU Academic Board, of the Subject Committee for Doctoral Studies
in Systematic Philosophy at the philosophical Faculty at Comenius University
in Bratislava and of the editorial board of the Slovak Academy of Sciences
Philosophical Institute. He sits on many inauguration and habilitation
committees and opposes habilitation and inauguration theses. At present
he also supervises doctoral studies in Systematic philosophy and holds
a post of the Rigorous Process Committee Chairman in the study specialisation
Ethics. His areas of expertise are eco-philosophicalissues, social philosophy
and various ethical and practical issues, as well as selected issues
in ancient philosophy. He has published dozens of academic articles
and studies, university textbooks, study materials and three monographs,
both nationally and internationally. He has also been involved in organising
academic events in the field of Applied Ethics and participated in an
international philosophical congress and in numerous international conferences.
He also initiated many projects for international co-operation and co-ordinated
the Slovak part of research in many international projects, such as
the 5th and the 6th Frame Project of the EU and the COST project. He
is a visiting professor at the University of Management and Social Affairs
in Tychy, Poland.
